Mini rear bumper mud guards/panels part number

Featured Replies

Does anybody know the part number for the mini rear bumper mud guards/panels which I think only started to appear on 2018 models ?

Part number is on them. If you car doesn’t have them, you don’t need them if you have the original wheels fitted.

They are are only for type approval concerning wheel coverage where wider wheels slightly project beyond part of the bodywork. Homologation Engineers drop a plumb line off the body and it must not touch the wheel. If it does, test failed and type approval denied.

Hence the add on plastic projection.

Hi mine has the 19" xtrem alloys with 20mm rear spacers , just thought it would help to keep the mud off

Apart from the type approval above, can anyone tell me if these have any other uses?  To me they are just a random piece of plastic and serve no mud protection purposes.  What I would like is a plastic trim all round the wheel arch to protect it from dings ( a bit like the scout).

I've had similar on a couple of other cars and they do work but not as good as full mud flaps

As mud flaps, they are as much use as a snorkel on a fish. Vaporised mud and road dirt will still cover the car in copious quantities with or without them.

If if you want to stop stone chips, you will be better using a clear self adhesive laminate like 3M helitape such as the stuff fitted to the front of the rear arches down by the bottom next to the door aperture.

They appear on the facelift of the Mk3 Octavia RS due to the increase in rear track between the PFL and FL cars.
I think rear track is 1506mm on PFL cars and 1544 on FL cars (this will, of course, vary with non standard wheels and/or spacers).

Regardless of their functionality, I like the look of them and plan to fit them to my PFL car.

I also run 19’s and spacers and I’ve just gone for mudflaps. Better spray protection and keep the flanks of the car a bit cleaner. Barely detract from the overall look of the car either IMO.

@thenorthface did you ever get an answer to this? I have to bump up my spacer size to accommodate my bigger brakes and will now be running 25mm rear spacers so to keep the car strictly MoT compliant I'll need something like this. Ta :)

No sorry asked the parts department and because I didn't have a 2018 reg to give him he wouldn't check for the part number !😠

As a few others have stated, they’ll do nothing to keep mud off as that’s not what they’re for.

I’ve not checked but I’d suspect you’d need the entire arch liner as they’ll be a moulded part of that and not an additional attachment.

If you’re really wanting them, go on Autotrader and get a reg number. They’re not difficult to get. You probably could have wandered around their stock of used cars and got one on the day.

I’ll try and ring TPS tomorrow with an FL reg, see if they are a separate part. I’m busy in schools right now so not supposed to have my phone around but I’ll sneak out over lunch and see what I can do. I’ll let you know what I find. I don’t want them for mud protection, I need them as the track on mine is going to be at the limit of the arches!

Awesome thanks for letting us know. Will ring TPS tomorrow and order some.

And they are here. Many thanks for the part number, they’ll be fitted at the weekend.

thanks, I was looking everywhere for that information.

Briskoda does it again,  it's a great site.😎

Tryna get some of these purely for cosmetics. Don't want to pay 20 quid to get them shipped from abroad. Local VW can't order them, neither can local Skoda🙄, TPS won't deal with me 'Cos I'm not a business. Does anyone know a site where I can get them, with a link preferably, without doubling the cost for posting?
