Tailgate open warning light

Featured Replies

Got my MOT next week and after a shunt where someone hit me up the rear my tailgate warning light wont go out, does anyone know where the switch is located?

I guess its in the tailgate somewhere as I have played around with the levers located in the boot and the light remains on......mmm guess it may fail the mot now as well unless ican switch the lights off arghhhhhh problems problems ! Have to wait until Oct to get the car in the repair shop so it may be a hire car I need for the duration CRAZY!

I think the switch is part of the lock mechanism, take the bulb out if you think it will flatten the battery but I doubt it's an MOT failure

Remove the tailgate lock and bypass the switch, replace the lock and relax.

There is no bulb to take out. The warning lights are all surface mount LEDs.

Pull the plastic trim off the tailgate (takes a lot of pulling). Remove the plug and the (three I think) screws from the lock unit and it comes out quite easily. The screws on my car are 8mm XZN spline. Some locks have one microswitch and some have two.
