I got fed up coming out in the morning t see the tailgate open, usually when it had been raining!

I fixed it by simply taking the key apart and cutting off the little button that operates  the switch.

Now it does not work at all, a bit inconvenient sometimes but a lot less than having it open whenever you inadvertently press the key, I keep the key my pocket at all times so whenever I knelt down or pressed against something it would open the tailgate.

Yes, I don't have to keep the key in my pocket but I do.

Just did a search for this very problem and arrived here on this old thread .

Gone outside just  now to find the tailgate wide open, and very wet in there  too due to this incessant rain.

God knows how long it's been open.

Love the car in every way since I bought it 2nd hand in April....apart from this.

This must be about the fifth time this has happened. Last time, the tailgate had been open all night long!

.sentence added, why?

Turning off 'easy opening' didn't solve the problem. I need someone that knows about these things  to open the key for me I suspect, and disable that tailgate opening button. Not a delicate job I actually fancy doing myself tbh, in case I 'gub' the whole fob....£££££'s

It’s a pain how sensitive the button is.

my main key I opened the circuit board up and desoldered the button for it.

was sick of my boot being open at all times of the day cause I’ve sat on the key!
