Media centre not working

Featured Replies

Hi guys, sorry if I'm going about this post in the wrong fashion or in wrong area.

Have a 2014 superb elegance saloon.

Media centre out of blue has

Software download-source activated,searching for SWL image on display

This will not go away and although car running fine we have no Nav or stereo or bluetooth

Any ideas guys b4 I send into Skoda dealer.

Thank you.

He will be able to help you 😁
better than dealer

Very unlikely that a dealer will know what they are doing with this bar emptying your wallet and your will to live.

As you have a 2014 Elegance, the unit will be a "Columbus" system.

Wait for the resident guru on the Columbus ( @Rustynuts )to respond to this post - he will give you the best advice on what to do and/or the options for repair etc.

Ok buddy thanks👍

Something has upset it that's for sure, but I'm not sure what. They don't usually demand a software update randomly unless someone's inserted a softwar disc. Doesn't sound like you did this though.

I'll message you later on with some questions.

I didnt....

I should maybe add that it appeared on Friday according to my wife and on Sunday car wouldn't start.

When I got home I found battery at 6v

Decided at 5 years old I'd just get a new one which I did.

Car now starting and running like a dream just this message.

Maybe dying battery upset it??

Hi guys. I’ve got exactly the same problem with my stereo unit after having a flat battery with the message on screen “source activated searching for swl image”. Tried rebooting it and can hear HDD spinning but then goes back to this message. It’s a Superb Mk2 2015 Elegance. Is it worth trying to do a firmware update and if so which one? The solution for Raymond of exchanging unit, is that buying a brand new unit or second hand?

obviously going to be difficult to sort out with the lockdown!

@Rustynuts Help🙏

I'll message you mate.

Surely a flat battery doesn't require a new headunit?

Presumably the OP's headunit was faulty, and the flat battery was just an unfortunate coincidence, or did the faulty headunit drain the battery?

No, it doesn't require a new head unit. All that happened was I did an exchange of the faulty unit for a fully working one to save time waiting for a repair.

@Rustynuts

Hi Rusty,

I hope this message finds you well. After researching on Google regarding the problem recently appeared with my Skoda Superb Columbus radio, I found this forum where you offered support to several individuals, and I would appreciate if you could help me as well.

So, I have a 2011 Skoda Superb with the Columbus Radio (SkodaAuto). The message that appeared on the screen is "Software Download - Source activated, searching for SWL Image".

I want to mention that the radio does not have any SD cards and has never been inserted any SD cards by myself or anyone else. Additionally, at the same time this message appeared on the screen, the radio was impossible to turn off, even when the car was totally stopped and locked. One morning, my battery died, so I went and bought a new battery thinking the old one might be the issue. However, the next morning, I noticed that the new battery was also dead. Therefore, I decided to disconnect the radio for now until I can solve the issue.

May I kindly ask you for help, Rusty? What can I do in this situation to solve the issue?

Thank you for your attention. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Have a great day!

Sebastian
