Heavy rain and no leaks....but....

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2015 L&K Yeti with a Pan roof and have read some of the associated horror stories ref leaks etc. I have had the car for a couple of years and it has sat outside in the most torrential of rain, parked both forward and backward and never leaked, (touching wood like mad).

However, on a couple of occasions (literally only happened twice), I have driven off, and when I park up again I have noted a few (literally a few) "dribbles" lower down the passenger side directly below the "A" frame..ie approx level with the lower leg? Not even enough to dampen the carpet?

I have opened the roof and poured a significant qty of water down the "gully" (where the glass roof sits), and sure enough water comes out from the drains beneath the car, but nothing seen on the inside?

Just wondering if you good folk can offer an explanation as to the possible cause / cure?

Many thanks

Something odd like condensation maybe?

Hi and thanks for the repy, but definitely not condensation as the drops are to large. Again more torrential rain the other day and not a drip?

Are the drain holes blocked with leaves in the scuttle area. If so water can rise up and get in sometimes. Big issue on the original Passat and Superb. Mine had a large amount of leakage due to this requiring extensive repairs to the electronocs under the passenger seat.

brill.....many thanks, I will try that, Interestingly after I gave her a good clean of leaves etc. I don't think I have had the problem?

Remember that there has been a serious change in the weather in the last few days!

Mine (and the previous 2) shows some condensation (and large droplets) on the passenger side and inside window but it disappears within a few minutes if I run the aircon.

..defo not condensation. The water droplets were too big and seemed to come from the bottom of the "hole" where the bonnet release catch is...ie nothing above it, but  a few drops running down beneath it. I am hoping that as per an earlier post the drains at the bottom of the windscreen were blocked with leaves causing a build up of water that when driving got "sloshed" down somewhere it shouldn't!
