Kodak Z740 ...any good?

Featured Replies

I'm gonna get a new digital camera nothing spectacular but have upto

I got myself a Samsung Digimax A7 camera a few months back for under £100. Its normal price was meant to be £329.99, but Argos has these down to £164.99.

Its 7MP and i think the pictures are amazing quality, well they are for me anyway.

I dunno if its the kind you are looking for.

Thanks @ all for the help so far, not really got any specific cameras in mind at the moment, just seen the kodak and quite fancied the entry level SLR style of it but i have practically no knowlege of photography other than point and shoot so openminded to sugestions,

I like the idea of being able to change the exposure time on a camera so you can take sort of time lapse shots but on my buget i know that it'll just be basic.

what about something like this?

ok slightly over budget but you will get a better picture (6.3 compared to the kodak's 5.3) and zoom(12x compared to the kodak's 10x)

i have the Z5 version and it is very good  although i do stress if you go for that camera get rechargeable batterys cause you are gonna need them.

if you up at knockhill on thursday ill happily give you a go with it if you like

I quite like the look of that one Andrew, I'll have a wee read about it

I've got a Z740. it's much underated. Brilliant camera for the money. got mine on pixmania. It's a little slow between shots but apart from that its great. SWMBO's friend is big into photography and was really surprised at the results we got with the Kodak.

See attached pic. I've reduced the resolution by about 25% to ensure the file is less than the 500Kb limit.

I have the older DX6490. Much the same, and has all the same features of changing exposure, aperture etc. I know nothing about cameras and this is very straight forward, easy to use and produces great pictures.

Well, eventually did get the Z740 , and a good deal, £149.99 + £6 postage next day delivery,

hardly used it yet but I took it to the garden and had a couple of snaps, the daffodils are getting a little scabby at the moment but you get the idea :D

this was from a distance of about 10feet using the zoom
