When doing some Long coding, when is this coding actually used?

Featured Replies

I currently would like to find out, if the high beam assist (no. 20) could be adjusted to be less sensitive.

Currenlty I stop the car, stop engine, connect OBDEleven Dongle, connect smartphone, press connect, go to 20 Long Coding, Do Stuff, disconnect, Start Engine and test.

Is this necessary?

How is proper changing to 20 done?

Could I simply leave the Dongle connected while driving and do Long Coding in 20 and get immediate results without stopping?

I can’t help with your question but as you’re not posting in a specific forum, have updated your car info to a Superb 2 to assist others.
Presumably that’s right or if not, please change it.

Do you save the changes after you change the desired coding?

obviously yes...

but are they active immediately or does a device (any not just 20) need a restart?

It depends on the module.

HBA cameras might pick up on the change immediately but I can't be sure...

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I've had it where coding changes don't take effect until the next day.

I have HBA and have my Auto lights to come on early. Could this have the affect of HBA also coming on early, if your auto lights are set to come on Late doesn't this affect the sensitivity of HBA ?

You are referring to a early/late setting in your dashboard or radio?

My car does not have something like that, officially this HBA is not adjustable as are others from this period.

I already found a setting which seems to be less sensitive.

Therefore I wanted to play around with the settings of long coding, but found them either inconclusive or the HBA did not use them because it waits for bus sleep mode?

Pulling the power from the hba mirror should force it to reload the coding... 😉

These settings are on the Car section on the Radio, I have an Octavia 245 but I would assume the Superb ( looking at your profile ) might have has the same settings

Nope, it does not. The mirror with HBA is retrofitted btw.

No such option in PQ35/46 cars like my MK2 Octavia or mgbar's MK2 superb.

Only MQB platform cars such as the MK3 versions of the above would get that option via the radio 🙂
