rear o/s abs sensor ring

Featured Replies

Keep getting an error indicated that there is a problem with the o/s sensor for abs, it's a little strange as after driving about 3 - 5 miles stopping the engine etc and then restarting the error message has cancelled, my thoughts are  some corrosion, dampness(I do live by the coast and there is likely salt in the breeze) etc shorting something, however the car continues without the said error, but back again after a night.

Had a quick look at the situation, with wheel off, but I think I need to remove the disc and caliper to get at it. Also how does the plug and socket work, screwdriver to start movement etc?

My question, anyone done this, are there notes on it on here, anyone got photos or an exploded drawing?

I've tried a search but nothing comes up.

Thanks in advance for any info

Thanks for that, gumdrop, I always forget about the info source that is YouTube!

Ok, can only get so far today , disc loose but cannot remove as the caliper(fixed half) is secured by 2 x  12 splined socket headed bolts, next question, anyone know the size of the splined job that I need, I ask, rather than scrabble about under the back end outside the motor factors with a selection of them!

Whilst doing this, I will also replace the discs and the pads at the same time, outer faces of the discs are badly corroded, about a 15mm track in the centre of the face is smooth and shiny!

Thanks in advance

Have you checked the inner face?
Probably a LOT worse.

Inner face almost pristine, I live facing the Western Approaches a la frog, lots of salt laden wind and rain here hence the outer corrosion I think - car has covered 60kmiles so don't know if that is good or bad!

You will need m14 spline bit for the rear carrier bolts.
