Connecting Phone help needed

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm having trouble connecting my pixel 2 with my 245 vrs via AA. Android Auto kicks in on the phone itself, but the car/infotainment doesnt pick up the phone. Bought a cable recommended on here incase the one I used before wasnt the the correct one to plug into the usb but no luck still. Can connect via bluetooth fine, handsfree etc works no problem. Any pointers appreciated.

Cheers

Do you get a message on the phone with options such as use USB for charging/ transferring files etc?

Not from what I remember. The display goes large (as in the text is too big for the screen), the auto android app is on as it asks me if I want to exit if I press said button, and options for waze etc come up on the phone itself. Nothing happens on the infotainment screen, in the smart link page all I see is logos for auto android, apple play and mirror link, but they are just logos, not options.

The Wife's Fabia has the Android link and I use it to run google maps without any issues. usually get a message plug device into usb and then it connects with google maps on the screen.

No message comes up on the infotainment screen at all. May pop into a dealer to see if they can help if I get time

Firstly what phone have you got?

It's in the opening post, a pixel 2.

According to that the things I can't have are conference calls, ringtone, media browsing and mirror link. Massuming I should still be able to use waze etc?

Might try with the wife's phone later

This is what I would try... Uninstall and reinstall AA. When you plug in after this, acknowledge all prompts on the car screen and phone properly.

I've ordered another cable, cost a fair bit more than the other so hopefully work. My brother's phone worked in my car using my usb cable, and my phone worked in his.

We tried his cable on my car and I did get a connection although wouldn't stay connected, he did say he sometimes had the same prob with connection so thought it was the cable. Hopefully the new cable I've ordered will sort it out, if not will try your suggestion

Thanks

At the top in your notification dropdown you will have a "USB Mode" option when connected via USB. Make sure to choose the "File Transfer" mode. I would also second clearing the App Data / Cache or uninstalling/reinstalling the Android Auto app. Make sure your phone is fully updated also.

Just out of curiosity, you're not using a custom ROM are you?
