Strange electrical issue.

Featured Replies

Strange electrical problem occurred with my Octy last night...just wondering if anyone has had anything similar, or would like to waste some time speculating... :D

Started car - on a slight slope, shingle driveway, large tyres, so tried to be light with the throttle so as not to shower stones everywhere. Bit too gentle, car stalls.

Put hand brake on. Try to restart engine - *nothing*. All the lights in the dash, etc. had gone out, turning the key in the ignition didn't even crank the starter motor.

Opened driver door. Interior light comes on, dash comes back to life with clock/trip reset, CD player had "forgotten" last playing position, etc.

Car started fine.

Thought it was a bit strange...

Pro routed power cable isn't connected at either end.

I didn't believe that Matrix nonsense, as I've never been able to teleport through my mobile.

And if I was making stuff up to relieve the boredom it would be something a bit more far-fetched!

So, possibly the battery. Wonder if excessive fridge usage has caused it to go bad...

Thought you said to make something up?! :D

Nah. Reckon you need one of those Hyper Earth thingys. :D

Seriously though, sounds like dodgy connection somewhere rather than iffy battery - if it was the battery it wouldn't have come back so quickly.

Doesn't sound too different to the prob I had a littlw while ago. Get in the car, started fine, but half the buttons were out on the dash, the glow behind the instrument panel was much more dim than the adjustment dial allows. - Headlights were just as bright. A swift switch off & on son put it right, and it's not resurfaced in the last few months. Perhaps me fiddling with the battery terminals and stuff when I was routing power to the boot made something "click"?

Had the same with mine a couple of times, and I don't even have a fridge installed :D Removing the key and then restarting does the trick. Some form of safety cut out???

Never mind all that, what about this love nest? :p

Are you cute? ;)
