Where do you keep all your bits?

Featured Replies

Where do you keep all your bits and pieces that you need to keep in your car? I seem to be building up a little collection like de icer, detailing spray for those bird carp moments, and any other bits.

I don't want to just leave them in the boot and hear them rolling around but some of those storage things you can get for the back of your seats are truly horrendous and make me think of Grandad motoring :o

So, what do you use?

If they are quite light, why not get the boot net and store them in a light bag on that?

Glove box, door pockets, arm-rest storage box, spare-wheel well and anything eles goes in a plastic box in the boot :D

Chris

I use all the storage compartments for all sorts BUT there are not enough are there. To me this is the 'achilles heel' on the Fabia. Storage space is rubbish!!

I think this offers a practical and attractive solution!!!!:D :P

[/quote']De-icer etc in a boot net down the side of the boot; torch and waterproof jacket in the stowage box under the driver's seat. Towrope in the spare wheel bay.

you will be supprised how much you can squezze under the boot floor (stuffing with plastic bags to stop knocking from metal objects asso behind the flaps to change your rear light bulbs... MASSIVE bit of space there.. perfect for footpump etc. on right had side be careful around fuel cap release cable though.

Avoid detailing spray for the bird crap - if you try that like i did theres some kind of reaction with the laquer (was using meguiars - great except not on bird crap) - better just water with a bit if shampoo ASAP after the eagle -- oops seagull-- has landed. Make sure you are using a lambswool mitt to wash by the way if you want to keep that paint looking new! I think Wardy has some luggage nets for sale in the classifieds - they are for a fabia - thats what those hooks are for in the boot that'll stop your stuff rolling around.

As I'm not in a traditional classroom these days I've got lots of smallish plastic boxes that used to hold school books. I have most of the stuff in one of these and have a bungee cord to keep it all in place - the eyelets are fantstic. Warning triangle and maps are wedged between the box and the wheel arch.

My spare wheel well is FULL of cr4p! (and no spare wheel) Currently contain at least the following: jump leads, snooper, footpump, extinguisher, tyre inflating gunk, cloths.... ahem.

When I get an LPG tank in there I'm gonna be screwed for storage room.

I'm using Poorboys so no problems there, was costing me a fortune using my Molton Brown

I use a plastic crate strapped down with luggage belts, keeps it nice and tidy.

De icer, ice scraper, hoodsac (for my jacket) are all under the passenger seat. My AA map is under the rear passenger mat.

iPOD, head unit case, street maps, torch, pen knife, tissues (you know, the KFC ones ) in the lower bit of the glove box. CD's and TomTom in the top bit.

AMD one click device in the can cooler ;).

Wallet normally goes in the tray under the steering wheel.

Sunglasses in a case next to the handbrake.

Spare house key in my back cup holder.

Spare oil in the velcro strap in the boot. Roll up rug squidged into the cubby opposite. First aid kit velcro'd to the side of the boot.

Who needs more space?

Everything, and I mean evrything, stuffed in Asda carrier bags chucked in the boot.

The inside of my car is scum free, but I found a mummified banana from wsm today whilst looking for my megs. water magnet, which I found inside a Feb. edition of the Daily Mail, inside a bag containg a birthday card ( unoposted ) to my Auntie (70 last Janury )

I'll never go to heaven...:o

It's clean outside though !..:D

You were using Molton Brown! Look at the ingredients - all those aluminium derivatives and 'oxides this and that - your poor new furby will get alzheimers early and the ecu will keep fogetting what you've been upto! Better get down to Godshill Organics for some ordinary soap!:D

?Poorboys is that better than meguiars then? When I tried meguiars after a seagull pooped I got a sort of petroly coloured haze appear on the laquer. Gave up with that 'clay' stuff too. Night before I sold the vRS I went down to Redfunnel lorry park to clean it under the floodlights and the security guard for seeda said I couldn't clean it there - but let me into the SCS factory to clean it in there! It looked better than new when I finished - like something out of an advert.:D Gutted when it went!:(

Stopped to look at the 05 vrs they have in Osbornes who are asking

When i had the fabia i used to keep my purse in pocket just to right of steering wheel, make up etc in pocket under passenger seat, road atlas in fabric pocket behind front passenger seat, scarf, hat, glovesand fold away rainproof mac in fabric pocket behind drivers seat, hand wipes, small pump, other repair stuff in a triangular emergency bag in boot, cds in ikea grey fabric case in glove compartment, loose change in ash tray, glasses cleaner cloth, bluetoothe headset (when not using) and mobile phone in pocket middle of the dash, ice scraper, small cloth and mints in drivers pocket door, small umbrella in passengers pocket on door. Small pen knife and coin for shopping trolleys on key ring. I like to be prepared!

Now i have Octy estate, keep lots of these things under false boot floor.

Spare house key in my back cup holder.

Molton Brown is pure :D but yes' date=' poorboys its a detailing spray, use it with a mega plush towel. Both can be bought from [url']www.polishedbliss.co.uk[/url] So far i have de icer and 1ltr of oil in my velcro strap in the boot and cd's in an ikea case in the glove box, along with a spare pare of sunny's in the compartment further up than the ashtray. There are still places i am discovering like the coke can sized thing near the steering wheel, is there another near there?? I'm determined to keep big V clean and tidy

Right then, you asked for it, Pixi!!!

BiC biro in glovebox lid pen holder; manual etc. in compartment under lift-up bit in glovebox; mobile phone earpiece coiled up in little cut-out bit just under glovebox cooling vent; first aid kit in box under passenger seat; A-Zs and torch in passenger door pocket; chamois demister, ice scraper, screen wipes, seatbelt cutter / emergency hammer, and old piece of towel in driver's door pocket; Stoplok in rear footwell (unless I'm parked and it's on, or I've got rear passengers and it's in the boot); RAC breakdown kit in velcro-bottomed bag stuck to boot floor; fire extinguisher and 1l bottle of oil in velcro strap behind wheel arch; 1l bottle of screenwash in Skoda velcro-backed oil bag thing, stuck to top of wheel arch; various bits and bobs (torch, de-icer, luggage net) tucked in the gaps between the toolbag and CD changer; and of course jack, etc inside spare wheel...

I really must get out more... ;):D

Handy tip: Keep the de-icer in a passenger pocket in case the boot lid freezes up in winter :)

Re detailing product: Did you catch this post from the Styling and Car Care Forum? I'm thinking of splashing out myself TBH after reading their website, though it will mean an extra bottle and cloths to find space for

icon1.gifDry washing your car

Apologies if this has been covered here before. I did a quick search and couldn’t find anything.

On Monday I saw an article in a magazine for ‘dry car wash’. Hailing from the lazy school of car washing I decided to give it a go -- it arrived yesterday The results you can see below. The car had not been washed for about 4 weeks and had suffered a 400 mile round trip to Derby in that time -- it was pretty grim. I guess with hindsight I should have taken a before picture!

Anyway - you have to be brave with this stuff. Spray it on; rub it in with a cloth; leave to dry and then buff off. You can read about the technology on the site:

http://www.miracledrywash.com/

Took about 40 minutes to get the results you see in the picture. And in case your wondering - no I don’t work for the company. Just wanted to share this find with fellow Briskodians!

Cheers

Simon

Oakleys in the secret shelf under the octy steering wheel (by vagcom port).

And gloves in the glove box! Yes, really!

I've got storage bags that go round the wheel arches in the boot that contain, fire extinguisher, work gloves, scarf, thinsulate gloves, vRS woolly hat, first aid kit and Skoda stress foam cars.

I've got the under parcel shelf storage bag that contains an A-Z of Birmingham, A-Z of Leicester, Great Britain road map, vRS Cap and general bits and bobs.

Luggage net has got, tow rope, waterproof jacket, digital tyre compressor and Fabia manual.

I also have the disklok storage bag in the boot, but that doesn't really get used as i keep my disklok in the footwells unless i have 4 people in the car.

Storage compartments in car contain CDs, mobile phone and Bluetooth headset chargers, sunglasses, headache tablets, Pro Plus and wet wipes.
