Rear Wiper Spray Nozzle Repair on Estate

Featured Replies

I accidentally ripped off the rear wiper spray nozzle on my 2015 Octavia wagon – it's on the right hand side of the red strip breaking light at the top of the boot lid.

How is this best fixed and where do I best source the parts and which of the following is the best option?

1. Replace the entire red strip breaking light (is this a straight forward job?)
2. Replace the broken off nozzle with something that not OEM (this may be tricky as I would have to screw the new one into the old tube, which may split).

A bit disappointed at the poor design and it's susceptibility to damage, I was using a petrol station window cleaning tool with rubber strip and soft sponge tube and that was enough to rip it off. I didn't notice at the time, only shortly thereafter when I attempted to use the rear wiper.

So I think I'd prefer to get a new downward pointing nozzle – maybe metal rather than plastic so it's less likely to get damaged in future. Has anybody tried doing this?

I've found that little jobs like that are best left to my trusted local garage. Mirror parts and aerials etc. were sourced and fitted properly. And the jobs were done cheaper than expected. I have a Combi as well and know the poor appearance/function of the nozzle.

It does look too difficult to me - remove the rear door trim, something similar to the first minute of this:

and then replace the nozzle, something like this:

Using a part something like this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-SKODA-FABIA-OCTAVIA-REAR-WATER-JET-WASHER-NOZZLE-6Y9955957/143225881965?hash=item2158ed856d:g:Ff8AAOSwrMhcvxP5

The only problem so far is that I have not manage to source videos on my model or a replacement part for my model - can anybody help here.

If it is too difficult to source the part over eBay I'll get it from Skoda.

Sorry that should have read that it does NOT look too difficult.

It is one piece, the brake light and the nozzle.

To replace it, you will need to remove the interior plastic tailgate trims; first unscrew the torx screw in the tailgate grab handle/strap.

Then carefully lever off the lower tailgate section, I'd start at the boot latch and work up both sides with a plastic trim removal tool - it's all clipped on. It will then lift up and off, there are some metal brackets that are part of the tailgate under the rear windscreen, it lifts up and off these.

There will then be two plastic fixings, one holding each side of the upper tailgate trim, at the bottom of it - these are a right bu99er to get off and you may have to cut them or drill them out and replace them later. After these are out, it clips off.

Now you should see the back of the brake light. There are two plastic brackets that slide sideways to unlock the brake light, and some metal u shaped clips to undo from memory...

It is relatively straightforward/intuitive if you take your time. Sorry, I have no photos.

Are you sure that the nozzle and brake/light are one piece? - the video above (admittedly for the Mark II not Mark III model) shows the nozzle as a replaceable plug. I have e-mailed the local Skoda dealer to order the nozzle, will let you know what they say when they get back to me.

The local Skoda dealer has confirmed the nozzle is seperate part no. SK-5KO955993B (or simply 5KO955993B as a VAG part) - where can I order this with reasonable postage (it's a small part) to Australia? Tried a Slovakian mob, but postage was 10 times. more than the part - part alone was 12 quid.

Have you tried local VW/Audi/Skoda dealers? My local VW dealer had no qualms about ordering me a Skoda part.

How much do the local dealers want for the part? I searched using the part numbers and the only hit was an Audi reference in German from 2012 apparently.

If it's horribly expensive then maybe a UK VW group dealer could post it to you? I have to say that the nozzle on my car looks tiny and insignificant and I'm wondering if mine is broken also. But it works adequately.

Local cost for a piece of plastic is A$54 = 29 quid.

So if I have to pay that I will, but more generally I'd like to know how to source Skoda parts cheaply as we have only 1 dealer in Perth and generally we get ripped-off for many things in Australia due to a low population/lack of competition and distance - Perth has no major settlement near it until Adelaide 2,700km/1,700 miles away - only Hawaii/Honolulu are more isolated.

My nozzle is intact and tiny. I'd say 4mm in diameter and protruding by 6mm. Can't imagine it'd be worth much.

Must...resist...🤐

Could you repair with a small piece of tubing, or maybe a piece of tubing and a small nozzle from another vehicle?

Might be worth asking the seller of this item if they know of the part being sold separately - check your own part first to make sure they look the same.

I have the same issue. Must have broke the nozzle off with wash mit or hit with ice scraper.  I didn’t fancy prising the light unit out so thought I would try something else first. I solved it by sticking a small bent pop rivet shaft in the hole held in place by tape then used a hot glue gun to add a “glue tube” pointing down towards glass then removed rivet and tape then gently trimmed the end to give a neat finish. It’s so small and hidden by spoiler that it’s not noticeable and the jet of water now does the trick. I’ll see how long it lasts, just need to watch I don’t destroy it the first time I was the car. 😂
