I've found that warranty appears to mean different things at different dealers, including what's covered and for how long.  For example, Marshall Group claim that trim issues and associated noises are only covered for three months and yet Camberley Service Centre dealt with the same issues under the standard one year manufacturers warranty.

It's 6 months or 6.5K miles warranty for all parts or mechanical adjustments, then the wear-and-tear policy applies.  This is stated in Skoda's own warranty T&C's:

"After six months or 6,500 miles, wear and tear and mechanical adjustment items will not be accepted for warranty repairs unless a manufacturing defect can be identified by a member of the ŠKODA Authorised Network as the cause. We would ask that you report any defect to a member of the ŠKODA Authorised Network as soon as it becomes apparent. Any consequential damage arising from the continued use of a vehicle with a defect may not be covered under warranty"

Well I am so glad to hear that all the "warranty managers" are subject experts on every part of the vehicle to the point that they can identify "manufacturing defects" as opposed to just wear and tear just by looking at the item.

In fairness a few of the experienced customer care/service managers have likely submitted enough warranty claims to know what will and what won't be authorised to be replaced under warranty.  I've had a whole set of wheels  replaced as the diamond cut sections where showing 'white worm'; the customer care manager did pre-warn me that one of the wheels was borderline and it did get queried by Skoda, e.g provide additional photographic evidence for that one wheel.  In conversation he also mentioned things like the prematurely rusting brake discs/callipers won't get signed off by Skoda, they've tried on sets that were only weeks old.

I would dare say that it's actually in the best interests of the dealers to try and get as much warranty work as possible; it must be a good source of income as you can bill Skoda for the labour, courtesy cars etc.  Though as with any line of work you will just get the twunts who can't be @rs5ed to even try as it may involve a bit of work on their part.

That may be the case but it seems to me that the ones I have dealt with fall into your latter category. I have had four problems that I would consider warranty issues and the only one "fixed" under warranty was an umbrella that fell apart was replaced. This of course didn't require any technical ability to see it was "broken" so was easy to replace. Probably from a car on the forecourt!

That was what happened to mine. Perhaps you need to take it to the "warranty manager" that I dealt with. It would appear to be the only things that is within his ability to sort out under warranty.

Where is the best place to get a second hand seat from as I may need to change myself

You should try a leather repairer/restore company first before going to the expense and hassle of replacing the seat.
