Dpf remap disaster

Featured Replies

I own an octavia vrs 2010 CR.  Several months ago I had a remap egr blank and dpf delete.  Unbeknown to me this involved drilling a dirty big hole through the dpf.

I have noted the following problems following the map.  The car regularly idling at 1000 rpm for several days.  When this happens and I am driving the car when I pull up at a junction and sit for a little while white smoke starts coming out of the exhaust.  Once I pull away it appears to stop.   But will start again at next junction.

Then the next day the car will be idling at around 700rpm and there will be no smoke until it kicks into the high rpm again a couple of days later.

I have spoken to the man who did the remap and he has assured me the dpf was fully maped out but I believe the car is still trying to regen.. Would anyone have an opinion on what else could cause this before I bite the bullet and get a new dpf put on the car.

The car still drives perfectly well does not over heat just puts the smoke out.

Any opinions would be appreciated

What did you expect a DPF delete to involve...?

Leaving the DPF intact would have caused it to clog up and your car to enter limp home mode.

Might be worth using something like VAG DPF app to see what your engine thinks the DPF is doing. It should make it pretty obvious if it's attempting a regen :)

I tried the vag  app but it indicated that my car was not covered unfortunately I will take it back to the garage and get them to check it thanks
