DSG oil change

Featured Replies

Hi all.
I have seen some threats about "do your self dsg oil change"
So i´m almost on-it but still some thoughts.
I have Superb 2012.

Can i drain the oil from bottom and refill from above were through the filter house?
The new oil 35 degree hot when refill?
Does the DSG need´s to be calibrate after this?
Something else i need to be aware of?

All the best.

look here

you can refill through the filter housing but it takes ages, the tool i bought was not too expensive and made the job easy, also you have the kit to do it in another 40000 miles.

make sure that you have a level surface or can level the car

do you have vcds? I wonder how without it (or similar) you could check the new oil was at the correct temp before fitting the sump plug.

Guys like you make it so much more fun to do you own car thing at home..... thx a lot for great post.

I found that the Dsg will take 7,2 ltr of oil?
Can you post link or picture of the filling tool that you have?

So what do you think if i have no vcds i should not do the oil change?

To " @xp800 " - More than 7 Liters are needed only with new gearbox or tottaly disassembled one. You need to buy 6 Liters (One Paper Box) and it is normal to fil in a gearbox a little over 5 Liters. You need to monitor the Temperature of "DSG"-Oil when You do the right "DSG"-Oil level. I do not know how to monitor this temperature without "VCDS". If the level stays below the minimum, You can broke the automatic transmission fast. It is not a Joke. If the level is a littel over the required - it is not as bad as the lower level.

I bought the DSG filler tube from Amazon for £20

you will need a 1ltr plastic bottle as the filler doesn't attach to the 5lt container

I got a Draper oil pump/bottle thing, I think it was £10 from the local motor factors. No doubt cheaper on line! I just used some silicone hose pushed up the stack pipe. The silicone was a good sliding fit so no oil leaked out.

Yes it does hold a lot of oil, but my Superb III was 5.5 litres. It is very expensive so best to check the quantity required rather than buying too much. At a pinch, spend €7 on an hour on Erwin. Amongst other things you can download the exact procedure.

I did have VCDS but with the temperature tolerance being 35 -45C, and with the oil being just the other side of the gearbox casing, I think you could measure the external temperature of the gearbox case and get a good idea of the oil temperature. In any case, I found it difficult to get the oil temperature above 35 even after prolonged idling.

It is quite an easy job to DIY a once you get over the fear factor!

i bought this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BTYPXU8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it has the correct thread adaptor too, plus others.

pushes the oil in under pressure but doesnt hold enough in one go.

as i bought a complete oil and filter kit with too much oil i have kept the spare oil in it ready for next time.

There are cheaper obd scanners mentioned on many threads that i suspect can easily read the oil temp too.

there was ab aldi one just last week that was mentioned here, start a question or add to that thread

Actually I was terrified of getting it wrong but taking it to blade group (whos one employee rifled through my car looking for something "worth nickin" and another who refered to me as the  C word because i asked them to lubricate screws before re fitting. not to mention charging me for work / parts they had to admit they didn't do as I had the episode recorded.)

was not an option.
