Skoda Octavia Columbus Screen Display Malfunction

Featured Replies

Hi I have a Skoda Columbus (rns 510) retro fitted into my Skoda Octavia elegance mk 2 2006 hatchback and I got it retro fitted in May and have had no problems at all. I was drove to work (about 40 minute drive) listening to music through aux and I arrived at my work place and turned off the ignition and continued to listen to music as I always do and had no problems then about 10 minutes later I look at display and it is black but yet the buttons are still lit up and music is still playing. I then use the touch the screen and the screen responds with the beep even though it is still black, I then turn off the unit by pressing the button then turning it back on it was still black but radio works and aux still plays music then I took the key out and it turned off then turned it back on and the screen was half black and half vertical multicoloured lines so I decided to turn it off and go into work.

Then about two hours later (on my work break) I come back and turn on the ignition and turn the unit on it starts up correctly with Skoda logo and then once boot up was completely I use media to listen to aux and there are faint vertical lines from earlier and then slowly within 5 minutes the screen slowly becomes faded with the vertical lines still on the right half of the screen and music still playing, then I turn of unit and go back to work.

About 6 hours later I come back to the car and leave work it is about 10pm and the unit still is not showing any display and is completely black yet all the functions such as radio and aux work just not navigation obviously cause as I can’t view the map. Like I said this is the first time anything like this has happened I got the unit installed via this forum by a well trusted and respected member and there have been no problems for the past 6 months I have been using it.

I have attached the pictures in the order as written and in all the pictures the unit is on.

If anybody has had a similar experience or knows anything about this situation could you please message me using the forum would be much appreciated thank you for your time.

Thank you

regards Adam

At a guess, the screen is failing or there's a bad a connection between the screen and the PCB.

@Rustynuts - might have come across something similar before?

Hi Adam, I am having exact same issue. Radio, Music and Bluetooth working fine but screen is not working with pink vertical lines.  Did you end up resolving your issue?
