1.6 tDi Timing Belt Guide

Featured Replies

Having got my Roomster with little or no service history, at 6yr/65000miles it's prudent to change the timing belt and water pump. It's a CAYC 1.6 CR diesel and have had a scout around here (no pun intended) but can't find a guide. I've got the cam, crank and fuel pump locking tools and although I've done belts on petrol cars it's my first time with a diesel. Are there any good guides around and any advice on potential gotchas gratefully received.

I found this , not the easiest to navigate around but better as a download rater than online.

I'd recommend spending the money for a one hour unlock on erWin: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showDSP.do

I was able to get a complete spec sheet for my car as well, and apart from all kinds of maintenance guides, they have quite a lot of interesting documents.

The same belt in vehicles in Germany are lifetime belts. I have put my money where my mouth is, mines on 126,000. without a change, and going strong.

I believe also that  the maintenance spec in UK says examine at 60,000 not neccessarily change. Your call obviously.
