Wing mirror and windows.

Featured Replies

Afternoon,

I'm having some intermittent issues with my Superb.

When locking the car and depressing the lock button. The mirror's fold away as normal. However when I come to turning the key in the ignition the mirrors aren't returning to their normal position. When the mirrors are locked in the windows aren't working either.

I have checked the fuses and they haven't blown. However after a few times of locking, unlocking and turning the key in the ignition the mirrors operate.

For now I have left my mirrors out but this isn't ideal.

Can anyone suggest a way to resolve this issue?

Thanks,

Paul.

Probably cracked wiring in the driver's door harness. It's a common problem. Probing with a continuity tester should confirm the problem.

Solution is replace the harness (the current version has longer wires to prevent the problem recurring) or cut and solder the damaged wiring.

That's sounds about right.

I checked the drivers window which weren't working but the passengers window was. Thank you.

Having one the passenger side window working and drivers side window not working probably rules this one out, but...

Is the one-shot window operation working? This is where you pull and release the window button and the window fully closes by itself.

Sometimes, especially after a service, the renewal of the battery, or if the windows have frozen shut, they can need resetting.

When in need of being reset the folding mirror operation is also adversely affected.

Lower all windows (or at least those that are working), and then pull the button up and hold it there whilst they close, leaving the button pulled up 10 seconds after each window has finished closing.

The one shot window function is working on all window's. When the mirror function works the driver window works as normal. The drivers door is the only one with the issue so points to the wiring harness. thank you.
