DRL's - replace with LED's?

Featured Replies

I have a 2012 140cr and would like to replace the DRL's as they look like I have the fogs on, and would like a bluer/brighter light. Can anybody tell me is it an easy job to do? Any problems? Any advice? I have VCDS.

Edit - just used the search function on the forum and found plenty of info...….

Nope, no resistors. Because they’re projection bulbs, they have really nice small diameter, but intense bright light. I did have to fit resistors when I replaced the fog lamps but I bought them ready fitted with lamp connectors so that was a two minute job.

The DRL bulb fitment is the same as the reverse lights.

Just be aware they may get quite hot...

Personally, I'd get some branded bulbs as they're more likely to be designed with permanent operation in mind. If they cause bulb out warnings either have the car re-coded or fit properly heat-sinked resistors to fool the bulb monitoring.

Yep, just want to confirm they are ok as DRL's, on all the time....

Well, after 6 years I cannot say for absolute certainty that these are the same as the ones I have but they look identical.  There is no sign of fogging, or other signs of heat generation in the lamp units.

Ok, received mine today (in France) and fitted, but have the bulb out warning. I have VCDS - does anybody know if I can alter coding to solve the problem? Or is it fit resistors? And if so, can anybody give me a clue what to get?

Thanks,

Fats

Just read that a 5w parking bulb hooked up before the led light and fitted behind (ie in the void behind the light cluster) will produce a load to fool the bcm…???

I fitted mine 4 days ago. no bulb out warning here and also a 2012

ordered from the link above

also ordered some 59mm festoon bulbs for the interior lights (combi with sunroof) only to find i should have bought 56mm long.

Brute force corrected the situation.

looking foir the part number just in case haha
