P2456 error code - DPF pressure sensor failure

Featured Replies

I've had my VRS for 2 years and a hefty 68.5k miles, suddenly this morning after leaving home, I notice a hesitancy, which quickly develops into a full blown loss of power and kangarooing down the road. I manage to nurse it to local dealer, abandon my day's meetings but manage to grab the code before letting the garage techs have a look at it. Their diagnosis a failed pressure sensor. It drove OK after the quick visit to get me home, then played up again later, so its back in the garage waiting for the new sensor to be fitted, hello £180. I noticed on the VAGDPF app that the rear dpf temp was 3000 DegC!, occasionally rising to 5000DegC so clearly something has broken. I've also discovered that the battery needs replacing, plus the two rear tyres. It's now out of warranty, and only 1500 miles shy of the 3.5 year PCP total contract mileage. Despite now taking the train a lot more for business meetings, I'll still be over that without doubt.

Whilst at said dealer we had a chat about changing it - previous attempts a couple of months ago were fruitless, the car has thousands of negative equity in it; but they had a new deal today on a brand new Karoq. Financially, it's a no brainer - same monthly payments, 3 year warranty, similar cost to run for business mileage, potentially much lower annual mileage means a chance it won't depreciate like the pound, so should have a car of equal or greater value than the residual balloon payment. All good news, but, it's an SUV with a small 1.5 petrol engine, with only 150bhp. Head says yes, heart is crying; I had hoped to swap it for a petrol vrs octy, but the maths just won't work in the foreseeable future, and i can't live with the financial exposure of a high mileage car that suddenly started needing new bits. I guess it's time to get that tartan rug, and grey slippers....

The DPF pressure sensor seems to be a common issue. See here:

Thanks for that! Gives me some comfort that it's the most likely issue. It didn't go into limp mode, it just kept stalling, drastic loss and surge of power.

I'd say make sure that you test drive the 1.5T - my friend has a Kodiaq with the 1.4T 150PS engine and it is surprising how it performs (his is a DSG automatic) it isn't as slow as you'd think it would be and I'm used to a 230PS vRS Octavia.

Hope so....my octavia has circa 220-230bhp / 450-460Nm so the drop in torque and power will be dramatic. I've driven it briefly, and prior to the octavia I had an unmodified superb 190 td for 2 years that felt slow...
