What Spare Wheel Retention Bolt?

Featured Replies

I've recently acquired a 15 plate Scout. I want to add a spare wheel before winter (full-sized), as it only came with can of goo. I have three questions I hope someone can answer as no amount of googling seems to help.

1. I have my own jack etc. already, so do I actually need the polystyrene insert that comes with the official toolkit to support the boot floor or will it be OK without it?

2. Does anyone know the part number of the spare wheel retaining bolt for the MKIII? The manual shows a removable locking mechanism on top of the bolt but the only one I can find that looks correct  here on Skoda Parts is listed as incompatible everywhere else while this one seems correct it lacks the locking mechanism.

3. There is minor paint damage on the rear door sill. Once it's fixed I'd like to add sill protectors. The front sill protectors are plastic/aluminium but the only rear sill protectors I can find here are entirely aluminium. Would these be big enough or do they also require a plastic backing?

Hello Azuse - welcome  👋

1) Personal choice - how solid is your carpet/flooring?

2) After March 2015 it looks like 5G0 803 899 is what you're looking for.  There are revisions A & D but these are for cars before 03/2015.

3) I went with a Rearguards version and was very happy (vRS, not Scout though). E.g.:

I've never heard of a locking mechanism for a spare wheel inside a lockable luggage compartment.

Underneath the car, yes.

Thank you guys  :)

1) Flooring is the bog standard plywood/folding felt. A rubber boot mat is going on top but even with that I'll be wary of flexing.

2) Thank you! I couldn't find a database to confirm that part number. Seems to be slightly larger than the previous generation.

3) Thanks, I hadn't considered aftermarket. I'll look into that.

It looks like a plastic ring-pull that simply stops it unscrewing from vibration. From the manual:

I do have one other question. There are a few paint chips that are needing repaired before winter. Are the official touch-up kits any good and how do I find out exactly which shade of silver my car is? Or is there better available else where?
