....a new rattle in the glovebox area turns out to be the glovebox vent blowing air into in a piece of paper. Winning!

That's a smooth 1.4 Tsi engine owning experience.  Us diesel owners never would have heard that!   

I recall in the summer a particularly irritating tinckle sound to my left when driving along especially on bumpy roads. I was getting my passenger to listen for it and they said it was on their right. Turned out to  be the tag on the zip of my sunglasses case in the overhead holder!

Do you mean something like this?

Similar thing last week on my 1.5 tsi Mk3. Irritating rattling from dash or door mirror area.  Later found huge number of oak leaves had settled in the scuttle area beneath the wipers, and were fluttering when the air flowed over them!
