Cosmetic Query...

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just a very quick query, does anyone know where I can get one of these door scuff plate type things? UK drivers side front door in black. I attach a photo with an arrow for convenience.

I don't even know what they are called...

Thanks

Door moulding trim.  Like in this listing. I don't think the vRS was a different part but worth checking with the seller first as they say they will check for you.

Or a skoda dealer or TPS will supply you and look up the part no.

It will need painting though, you can try to remove one from another car but they don’t always come off well.

They can distort and bend though, fishing line would be a better bet.

If the trims are attached with the usual VAG bonding agent some heat will be necessary to soften it before removal.  I like your fishing line suggestion BTW; any particular type? Monofil? Braided? And what weight of line? :)

Yea in the past I’ve heated them up to get them off but this softens the trim making it distort as you pull it off, especially these thin trims like on the Octavia.

Ive never tried braided but the roughness might help, it just needs to be thin enough to get behind the trim and break the foam tape, 10lbs will be ok I guess, I’ve used strong cotton in the past as well.

If that's how they're attached then I agree no heat.  I thought they were bonded on.

I’m 99% certain they are held on with the foam trim tape, if you look on the eBay add linked above you can see the red peel off strip slightly in the photo.

Great, thanks for the help.

Just need to know the paint and I'll get one of my guys to paint it for me...

Thanks again all.

Dental floss will even do the trick and leave a minty fresh scent..
