Esp , tcs

Featured Replies

Hello guys , i have a vRS 2 Facelift from 2010 , and i have tcs off instead off esp , and when i deactivate tcs it starts flashing , some guys said i have a problem with traction control system but i don't think there is a problem.

Can i turn esp fully off ? With vcds or something?

When it flashes means TCS system is off.

When you re-activate, the indication should stay off.

All these indicates no problem.

In your car normally ESP should not be able to turn off but it depends what ABS pump type you have though.

So you have Hill Hold?

Yes i do have hill hold

Then you should have XDS(+) also...

Have  you tried keeping the button pressed for 6-8 secs or something?

It will first deactivate TCS and after the ESP..

I tried holding it but it activates TCS back on , i have a few friends with same car but different Model Year , and theirs standing still not flashing in dashboard

I think when standing still then manages to turn off ESP..

But when ESP friends off it is referred in the screen line when TCS says.

Maybe with VCDS can do that but not sure if your pump leaves you do this.

A scan from the pump could help..

Just wanted to know if it is a problem that the tcs is flashing when off

Which warning symbol is flashing. Is it the one with the car with the wavy lines? Or the car with the wavy lines and "OFF" underneath it? There was a technical change in November 2009 and all cars built after this can no longer disable ESP with a button, only TCS.

The flashing warning light doesn't sound right though. Mine is solid...

Mines when TCS disabled it flashes 1 blink/sec.

ESP was able to be turned off in VW models though and not Skodas..

It depends what ABS pump is fitted rather than VW vs Skoda.

If the pump supports it, it's a simple coding change with VCDS. Pressing once turns off ASR/TCS, holding for 2-3 seconds also disables ESP.

Yes, correct.

I just meant how the car goes from production.

VW's had all the relevant equipment activated from factory but Skoda's were a bit behind.

If OP's car has factory Hill Hold (and so it should have XDS), then his pump should support the characteristic.

then why it isn't activated from factory to be able  to turn ESP off..

Of course 99% if plugging a VCDS and do the relevant bit, it will be possible then to deactivate ESP too.

Thanks , i will check with a friend's vcds and come back with results.

But if it's off and flashing it's not a problem right ?

If any problem with TCS/ESP  both this indication and the ABS light up and are stable.

If alone then it is a characteristic of user adjustment..

Assuming you have the MFD display in the drivers clocks, then you'll have error informative  messages there too..

This is what I get when I disable TCS. It's a solid light, not flashing

I believe the cluster behaviour changes depending what software version it's running.

Yes as Langers2k says.
