do wheels need to be aligned after changing wishbone bushes?

1 & 2 driver side Front @ https://www.powerflex.co.uk/resize_image.php?image=Diag_3150.jpg&w=600  is going to be changed on Monday 8am.

Do wheels need an alignment after bushes are changed? Should I ask for the the passenger side front to be rebushed as well?

They don't have time to to do everything first thing Mon morning as this was booked as an emergency rush job to get the car at least back on the road asap.

I would have both sides rebushed  but as its a rush job then just get the one done,  then take it back when you can and get the other side done and the wheel alignment.

No point in doing the wheel alignment with only one side rebushed.

Yes the alignment should be done after bush replacement and I'd do both sets to keep the suspension symmetric.

If they only have time to do one side, I'd get the other side booked in asap then do the alignment 🙂

will the the only thing that happen in the mean time is increased wear on tyres (which are down to 3mm on the front anyway)  and no other increased wear on other components or compromise on safety?

see, I'm a little short of money atm and the rear bushing / arms also need to go at some point, some bolt or other was seized and the last alignment was not possible to fully correct the back wheels. give another week and 1400 miles and there'll be money to replace every arm bush and joint, alignment and back brakes that only has a couple more thousand miles left.

If the alignment is slightly out, it'll probably just increase tyre wear and fuel use.

If it's really badly out, then it will start to effect the handling but I'd be surprised if this is the case :)

Provided you have not done an alignment change at time when the bushes were worn out then no, no alignment is necessary. Inserting new bushes, merely restores the bushing geometry back to the factory fresh condition.

The following table is for the Octavia iii but Im sure the mk2 would be the same.

Remember that correct alignment requires, good evenly worn tyres the car to be correctly weighted, and suspension properly settled.
