Vag-Com VCDS required Inverness?

Featured Replies

Hi there new on here but looking for help. I am looking for someone to help with access to VCDS or similar. I had a fabia estate 1.9tdi which got written off recently so in desperation I bought a Seat altea xl 1.9tdi as they took the courtesy car back (I also bought an Octavia estate 1.9tdi its a long story). The immo is stuck on in the SEAT. It happened the day after I bought it. I tried both keys and reset ecu by removing battery and touching cables together but no result. It could be the key that lost its code or key reader in ignition has failed but sorry dont know much about ecu etc but I believe it is possible to disable immo using Vag-com /VCDS. I am in Inverness and just thought there may be someone out there that could help. Local Seat garage is expensive just to plug into the car. God knows what they would charge to fix the problem. The car was cheap so don't want to spend a fortune on it. I know its a SEAT not SKODA but thought I would ask if there is anyone nearby or any further help or advice I could try would be most welcome.

Many thanks

Somewhere on this site there is a register of members and locality who have VCDS , but I can't find the post.

Thanks, Gizmo- hopefully the OP will see this .

@Alasdair1 did you get this resolved?

As good as VCDS is, if you don't have it then it isn't easy or cheap to access.

Luckily there are now more options, particularly Carista.

£15 for the dongle, the App for your phone is a free download, as is the first months membership...

Coming from the same county, I sent him a PM with Gizmo's link. Nothing yt, but don't forget up there days run close together at this time of the year. 🤓

VCDS will NOT allow you to do an immo delete, and unless you have a key chip that is working AND the SKC code you will be unable to code new chips in. Typically the wiring loom in the steering column can fail when adjusted for reach/rake etc so I'd be looking at that first.
