Rear faulty wiper

Featured Replies

I can confirm that that part number is the correct one for a 5J9 Fabia, ie an estate, the hatchback uses a different part number so avoid I'd think - for your information the one to avoid, for/from a hatchback is 5J7 955 711 !

I was really just warning you in case in desperation you grabbed any Fabia MK2 rear wiper from a scrappy.

Thanks for that I ordered the same motor Skoda Fabia 5J 07-10 Estate Rear Window Windscreen Wiper Motor 5J9955711 as I removed from the car it fitted perfectly and was like for like , but didn’t work as explained in my previous threads, that’s why I was wondering if it had been changed at the garage for a different one , how do I check it’s the right one for the car? Thanks for your input this is driving mad.😫

Thanks for that,  I appreciate your input, can anyone explain why if I reverse the black + and brown - terminals ie the wrong polarity it runs, but the other way it doesn’t, even if I put a positive feed onto the green and red wire or the green and white wire terminals on the motor . Please help 🥴

It's and electric motor, simply reversing the polarity will make it go in reverse.....

this "may" tell you that the normal direction / polarity does NOT work because it has to also go through the internal intermitent / park switch circuit.

You have an early car, and there were thousands that went wrong, they had to re-design it in the end and they were on back order, its a high possibility you simply have 2 duff motors.

As mentioned before, you need to have a "known" working motor to know "if" its your car that is the issue. If you can drive to a breakers and literally swap one out, then you would know.

Thanks for that, I’ve checked with my local salvage and they don’t have any Skoda s but have some VW s and Audi’s of various models, I may pay them a visit this week. Just a thought could I remove the pcb and link it out and just park the wiper manually ? Although it is a permanent supply I could use an IR switch. May try this tomorrow. Thanks for your advice.

If you wanted to try it with just the single supply source, then you would short out the park switch and not connect the permanent 12V supply so use the stalk and timing to park it at the correct position.

Thanks I will try that tomorrow.

Hi all, final update on the wiper, I bench tested the original motor it didn’t work until I bypassed the pcb then it worked fine, it even parked, so the problem was with the pcb, so I decided to fit a remote 12v light dimmer control that I had at home for led s  only to use the on / off button and decided to fit it to the motor. It works great now and can even use it from a distance ( not that I ever will ) . It’s all back together, job done. A big thanks to all of you that had an input in my problem. Thank you .
