Skoda Felicia 1.6 Won't Start

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I need some help today, because until 2 days, my felicia 1.6 won't start.

It's almost 10th time it has the same problem, and last times she finally started, but this time she won't start at all.

The starter engine is New (~20k Km, 1.5years) and the ignition coil too (~2K Km, 1month).

When I turn the key, indicators are OK, the fuel pump relay "clics" and all seems good until I finally turn it to start and nothings happen.

A Year and a half ago, when we changed the starter, it changed nothing and we finally had to replace the ignition lock assembly to make it start.

I really need some help, I'm completely lost, and I really need my car working.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english, I may not use the right technical terms for the parts. Don't hesitate to ask for further information.

Fuel pump relay clicking is not enough proof the fuel pump is working. You need to open the fuel door and filler cap then listen if the pump is buzzing for 5 seconds when ignition key is turned to ON position.

On the other hand, the starter motor has nothing to do with it. I assume your issue is 'cranking but no starting" otherwise you would have mentioned the engine does not rotate.

The fuel pump is buzzing for 5 seconds, that's okay 😉

My bad, the engine effectively does not rotate. So the issue is engine not cranking 😅

Did you test the health of the battery?

Yes, the battery is good

This video should give you enough information to know how to diagnose a no crank no start issue on any car.

I imagine that this is one of things mentioned in the video above, but on a couple of VW group cars I've had with this problem, the no-crank situation has been caused by a bad/corroded contact or a broken wire at the starter solenoid connection.  That's where I'd start looking.

True. That was exactly the case in the video since the connector is usually not well protected. The good thing about the video though is the technician finds it in a logic way, giving a lot of information step by step. He even mentions there are many shortcuts that some viewers will scream at him... yet he does the diagnosis undisturbed.
