Hi fellow Skoda owners.

Seem to have a bit of an issue with fuel economy..I've had the car. A 2002  1.9 TDI ambiante 90hp. 104k miles on clock for a few weeks now..no limp mode issues anymore..I was getting that until I cleaned the turbo but that seems fine now..I usually average about 32mpg per fill up..I believe that's pretty low. I'm quite a gentle driver..the car is automatic.. the journeys are pretty flat and normal duel carriage way type stuff.engine  Temps are about 80c but never really much higher.air filter is almost brand new..egr has been semi bypassed by removing the top hose. any suggestions for a person with no diag software access?

Automatics tend to have a bit less fuel economy over manual. Are you going off what’s on the mpg gauge on the display? As they’re not renowned to be that accurate. Your better off working it out after a fill up. You can also try resetting the A & B trip computers and see if it shows any better on the display. I have a 1.9tdi ASV manual and it averages around 40 around town and 60-70 on a long run.
it might be worth changing the fuel filter and putting injector cleaner through a tank full of fuel. Also tyre pressures, excess weight and an alignment can have a big influence on mpg.
Hope some of that helps?

Yeah I've got some injector cleaner additive waiting to be used when I've emptied the take and refilled .I'm going off my own calculations.. how do I reset the a b trip? The hold the button down on the 1 or 2 display?  PS thanks for reply

There’s a button On the under side the wiper stalk, press and hold it in when you have it on mpg and it will reset all on trip A or B whichever your on. If you just press the button once it will switch between A & B.

On the A scale it resets Available Range every time you fill up. Manually reset the Trip Distance when you do so, and you''ll get a result at the next fill up of "miles/litres" Your figure looks low to me, but I drive a manual...

What's the time/distance of your journey? The temperature gauge should get up to the middle (90) and stay there. If it doesn't then it could be a faulty thermostat and/or temperature sensor.

Also check for sticking brakes, that will affect fuel economy!

Been on a 40 mile trip then got to 85 ish and usual time to and from work is about 25 mins and 8-9 miles . Maybe 32 mpg isn't that bad? Haven't a clue but when you see others getting over 40 easy I dunno . Brakes aren't binding at all I've checked..tires and pressures are ok too

Even 8-9 miles and 25 mins should be more than enough for it to get up to temperature.
