DSG gear knob wear

Featured Replies

So my dsg knob has started to wear a bit on side. Being only 18 months old, wonder whether its a common thing. Anyone else having this problem?

That looks like a ring has been catching it?

Mine is 60K miles and 4 years old and I haven’t noticed any wear on it.

Mmm strange that.... I don't wear rings...reckon i could get it swapped under warranty? Or would that classify as wear&tear?

There is very little chance you will get it replaced under warranty. The Skoda warranty will not replace anything that can even remotely be classed as wear and tear and especially if the vehicle is more than six months old..

On the contrary. I would try to get it changed under warranty. It's not a very expensive part. Thus, may be not a big deal for Skoda. Anayway. For an only 18 month old car. It should not happen. We don't speak about a10-15 year old car...

Then just try... You've nothing to lose. At best, you get a new one ! ;)

Had cracked chrome on a two year old DSG lever, it was replaced under warranty. Give it a try for sure.

Same for me with the cracked chrome, replaced under warranty.

So just a bit of an update... Local skoda dealer is replacing it under warranty...result! You don't ask you dont get.

Your dealer is obviously better than the useless Westend Garage. Stirling who use every means not to do anything that they can class as wear and tear.

They no doubt would have said your problem was not a manufacturing defect because it was wear and tear even if you point out that it is only worn because the item is low quality and wears out faster than any other manufactures similar product.
