Which alloys? Lightweight and 17".

Featured Replies

Well, I don't know where to start. If I change my alloys, they need to be lightweight (atleast as light as the std 16s) and only 17". I'd quite like 7.5" rims too, preferably with an offset that will let them sit a bit further out in the arch.

Any ideas people?

OZ Superleggras look alrite, as do Whelan_vRS', not sure of their name.

It's all a matter of taste, the choice is yours at the end of the day.

Hmmm, could I pull off the rally look? OZ Super Tourismos in white? Or would 18's be needed?

I wish the rally car 5 spokes were available... :(

I have a lightweight set of 17 wheels on my Mk1 golf, Dymags, very nice and have a small rim, similar in styling to the rally 5 spokes and maybe similar to compomotive 5 spokes.

I think the fabia would look great on an old set of MIM Raffinos but they dont make them any more :(

I'd say OZ superleggeras but then I'm biased. If you want 5 spoke wheels how about these:

or these:

Also worth noting that OZ are currently doing deals on their lightweight wheels with Toyo tyres.

Yep - if lightweight was a major consideration, I'd be knocking at OZ's door

Oh yes - they would look super-dooper :D

Go bid

They've been done before - I'd be more worried about the 225 width. Seeing as I had 7.5J 17" S3 rims on mine, with 215s on them and it was quite a squeeze!

Those wheels are 7.5" wide, I would fit 215/35 profile tyres.

Not all OZ wheel are equal!! There is a massive difference between Superleggeras (Or the new Ultraleggeras) and pretty much all other OZs - for example in 7x17 size:

OZ Superturismo - 20.7lbs

OZ Superleggera - 15.2lbs

Other lightweight wheels:

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 - 17.3lbs

Rota Subzero - 16.5lbs

There is a large range of lightweight Rota wheels available - see http://www.rotawheels.com/wheels.php for the styles. Available from RareRims in the UK - mainly in Japanese fitments but the Rota site lists 5x100 fitment.

By way of comparison check out these weights:

Audi S4 (7.5x17 Avus 6 spokes) 28.0lbs

Audi TT (7.5x17) 29.0lbs

I am probably (if I win the auction in a day or so ;) ) going to be a sheep and go with the 17" Octavia alloys like others have done. I saw this pic (below) in the Alloys thread and I was sold.

Hey hey, its my car

Indeed, I nicked your pic!
