Air filter change 1.4 tdi

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have purchase a skoda fabia mk3 1.4 tdi 75cv since years now, so now I would like to change its filters at my own. As first thing I would like to change the air filter can somebody guide me on how to do that since I didn't find anything on that.

Normally this type of air filter is fixed to the engine using 2 or 3 rubber dough nut things that get pushed down over dowels/pegs with a spherical end.  So you need to pull the air filter assembly up off them and maybe after removing any wires or small rubber pipes, you can take the air filter assembly away from the engine and turn it upside down to reveal the screws that hold the top to its base - then replace the filter element.

Just as rum4mo described, I've done it couple times, I have found when putting the air assembly back on, a little bit of soap helps it all go back easier to the engine mount locations.

Screenshots from a manual I have. Also.

Hi, well I have tried as you said but I can't figure out how to pull out the air hose because it's seemed to be stucked, and I have no idea how to unscrew the rubber nut. Is there any video showing how to change the air filter on this car.

Thanks to everybody for your help

To remove any VW Group engine air filter assembly that is retained by these fixings, you need to be quite brave when doing it the first time, try "rocking" one corner up and down increasing the force/pressure that you are grabbing it by, then move onto the next corner - and on and on.
