Benzine: With or without Ethanol added ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I read contradictory analysis about the effects of E5 and E10 fuels on the engines as well as the fuel line and other elements in the fuel tank to exhaust path .

Some sources say it is OK for the engine but provide no information about the supposedly corrosive and clogging effects Ethanol has on the fuel lines.

As the S2 was designed long  before E5 and E10 became widespread, I don't know how Ethanol compatible is it

The engine is a VR6 3.6 which I'd like to keep as long as possible  😉

BTW the fuel flap says to run it with at least RON 95, but I think running it on E98 is fine (in some parts of Germany can be even hard to find something below E100). Where I am only E0 is available

for 98 Octane.

Thus I would like to know what are your experiences as well as further information both on Octane effects and 95 vs 98
