Few questions about possible upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, im new here :)  Im happy owner of Octavia vRS 2013 with all additional features. It is my 1st vRS and Skoda :) Amazing car.

But can u please help me. Im looking a ways how to improve my car with new features that was added in more newest models. So please take a look on list and answer how it can be done:

1 - I have Columbus MIB2 but i want to add here SmartLink (to have Andriod Apps here) - if it is possible ?

2 - How hard will be to add function such line assistant ?

3 -

From memory the 2013 Octavia has the columbus MIB 1 unit you would have to upgrade to an MIB2 unit for those features. I think it can be expensive but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me can advise further

The MIB1 and 2 Columbus use the same screen. Unless the previous owners has upgraded the base unit, a 2013 would never have come with SmartLink capability.

When was your car built?

If it was built before June 2015 then it will have a MIB1, if after then a MIB2 - unless someone has retrofitted already...

11.2013 i guess.

so then i need just to upgrade with new head unit ?

I’ve got a 2014 vrs that had mib1, Check out this thread I made a while ago.

You’ll have to upgrade the display and head unit, total worth it, makes the car feel brand new.

If you want SmartLink you will need a new radio. You already have the larger screen but still expect to pay about £550-600 for a CP free MIB2 Columbus base unit.

So, only CP needed :) Thx.

No you will need to have the features re activated. If you just do CP the nav and SmartLink etc won’t work, only radio, media and phone. I suggest either buying a fully unlocked ready to go base unit or contact someone who knows how to handle these radios and get them to prepare one.

Hi, The mib2 unit is actively removed from the 2019 model Octavia vehicle. Do I need to activate by paying for smartlink when I install this mib2 on my own vehicle? I want to know the smartlink activation vehicle vın number? or Mib being introduced to the MAC address of the unit?

If you remove any MIB2.5 from any car and put it in another you will need to remove CP, install patch, hack software and install CAN filters before installing in another vehicle. Hope that helps.

I wish there was someone around me who could do what you said. 😞

Not sure where in the world in you are but I had my radio’s done by Pawel (pab567) who is based in Poland but I’m in the UK and that didn’t stop us :)
