Switch On Steering Column

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a 2009 Skoda Superb 2.0 S TDI 140 and there is a round orange rocker switch on the Steeering Column, just below and forward of the Ignition key switch; the purpose of which I am unable to work out.   The user manual indicates there is the option of a starter button on the column, but that looks more like a push button and in a slightly different position.  On my car, it's definitely a rocker switch, which lights up when in the on position, but apart from the switch lighting up and glowing orange, it doesn't appear to do anything, so nothing in either the on or off positions.

Hope someone can enlighten me?

Thank you.

Can you post a picture of it?

Photo attached - it's a circular rocker switch (approx 15mm dia)  with no markings.  It lights up when in the on position and remains lit, even when the ignition is switched off and key removed.  It does not look like a retro fitted switch, but I could be wrong?

There's not much to add really, but obviously intrigued.

Thx

Ian

Certainly not standard.

Normal guess would be a dashcam or similar. The best way to find out is to trace the wires 😁

Did you not think to ask the seller?

Was a probate sale, so that was not an option.

As per a thread a few weeks ago........ Front parking sensors?

I have seen this type of switch on a couple of Superbs in the past & they both had been owned by highways/motorway maintenance company's & the switch was for a flashing roof beacon.

I have a switch like that but its for a taxi sign,so would presume it is/was for something aftermarket
