Unable to set tyre pressure?

Featured Replies

As the title says, I got 2 new tyres fitted on the 23rd and can’t set the pressure. I’ve tried letting them down a bit and putting more air in.

Would the system tell me if one is faulty?

So you go into the menu and in tyres select set pressure?

Just checking as I met someone who thought you had to set the tyres to the car rather than the car to tyres.

Yeah I can’t set it in car😂

what's the error message?

How far through the process did you get?

So once you have inflated to the right pressure have you then pressed "set" on the screen to recalibrate it to your new tyres ?

Thanks

Mine seems to be doing nothing too... Not bothered so far thou

Hmm, I experienced this behaviour only in case the car was moving. Once it is still, I am fully able to set the tyre pressure and it doesnt matter if the engine is on or off (but ignition has to be turned on). I assume you have tried it this way.

Did the garage fit new valves and remove the tpms sensors?

@Ecomatt what TPMS are these if it is a factory standard car? Does your car have TPMS sensors in the valves?

Well, there are 2 types of tyre pressure monitoring systems - direct and indirect. Usually, Octavia is equipped with the indirect measuring system which works through ABS and does not require any additional sensors in the wheels. I have seen some cars with direct system retrofitted, however, I am not sure if it is offered as an additional option when configuring the car.

My car detected a loss of pressure the other day.

One tyre was a little low, so I pumped it back up and went to reset the system.

It wouldn't let me, just said 'starting' on that screen for about half an hour.

I switched the engine off and put the ignition back on, and hey presto I could reset it.

No idea what was going on tbh.

In the Uk at least direct TPMS has never been an option on the Octavia III.

Just thought I'd share my Saturday evening fun.  I can confirm that the system does work.  Hit 'something' just before joining the motorway and a couple of miles down the road the system flashes up telling me my rear n-s pressure is low.  Pulled into services to find a shard of something in the tyre near the sidewall (unrepairable!) and a not so quiet hissing.  Good job I pulled up next to the air machine as the spare was low.  This was then followed by a 50mph cruise up the M3.

This worked for me in the end thanks for all the replies.
