Happy New Year, does anyone know what this function does? "Automatic supplementary heater"

I have it ticked but no clue what it does

 

 

Hi,

From what I gather this is an electric heater which helps heat the cabin up whilst the engine is still cold. Once the engine’s up to normal running temperature it switches over to the engine for its heating.
