Can't decide on colour!

Featured Replies

About to order a new 1.5tsi SE L hatchback and originally the dealer offered a black one as it was in stock, as I wanted Black I was perfectly happy! Now the black one seems to have gone so for quick delivery it looks like Silver or Race Blue! I'm torn now, what's everyones preference here?

Surely it matters more what you want? Personally I think the blue is nicer than the silver but that’s just me. It certainly has more character.

Make it your choice.

Another one here for Race Blue. Last couple of days saw Mk2 and Mk3 Octavia's in this colour and both stood out whereas Silver just disappears into the murky winter weather. Depends on whether you want to make a statement or hide in the shadows.;)

I agree with the blue comments! My wife and children both said silver! Maybe I'll toss a coin! 🤣 Thanks everyone.

Most car parks are full of White, Black, Silver and Grey cars these days, so a bright Blue one will be easier to find particularly in a multi-storey.:wondering:

Does this help?

Had it as a courtesy car a while back and it was lovely. Stood out among the other non vRS models where white, silver and black ones blended in on the forecourt. If I had the luxury of choosing a colour I would have this or red over the others including my very boring grey!

Thanks for that. I reckon Blue is the way to go if I can get one in a sensible timescale.

Another vote for Race Blue here, brilliant colour. Mine is the same grey as Sasha Grace's but i kind of like it.

I had choice of any colour ....my wife decided on the Quartz Grey !

I agreed !

Regards

Brilliant metallic silver for me.

Was looking at the red, but glad i didn't after seeing them out and about on the road they seem like very high maintenance.

Had black in the past never again, same for white.

Just make sure you go and look at one before you order, as just looking at pictures is never the same in real life.

Personally I don't really like race blue on non vrs/sportline models.   However I'd take blue over silver unless you want to be mistaken for a taxi constantly.

I think the blue doesn't look good in the standard models. I'd probably go for a silver, personally.

because you never see a blue taxi?

Haha. I'm concerned about the taxi thing, I was hoping that black grille, lip spoiler and wing mirrors would separate me. I'm definitely going to avoid the non metallic blue!!

Not quite ... That's a different blue I think but it just seems to need a body kit to work. Weird I know. Any silvers or Grey's look good in my opinion. Colour is massively subjective tbh so each to their own.

True, some like the brown, but it's not for me.

Well, I'd avoid "death silver"...

Really, I know colours a personal preference, but what’s wrong with silver?!?

Personally I think the hatch looks crap in any colour so if you want the Octavia to look it's best, buy an estate. :D

But how odd. Just went on to Autotrader to post up a picture of a 69 plate SE-L hatch in both blue and silver, but I see some cars have black door mirrors and others have it painted in the body colour? Anyone know why? I think that would influence my colour choice. If the car came with black mirror covers IMO they look stupid on a blue car.

( Deliberately didn't post full side view as it's defo the hatchback's Achilles heel. )

"Silver is the new white"; default tone for things like Police/Taxi models.

Thanks for this, I'm still trying to work out why some have the black and some don't, maybe someone else will know. 👍
