Sat nav update

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 15 vrs and want to update the nav . Downloaded nav update to st card 32g but car can't see it . Also tried to update radio icons on at card and also memory stick . Same problem

 Any ideas ?

If you have an Amundsen navigation system you need to use the Skoda card, a normal SD won’t do. If you have a Columbus, you need a FAT32 format card and then you load the card to the car and update the nav via Navigation, Version Information, Update. The car should know if a card with a software update is put in it, mine always gives me a message when this happens.

Well, it's a FAT32, but I can't tell from that photo if it has the hidden "Skoda" partition. @SashaGrace may know, and indeed whether or not a Windows systems administrator account can look for that partition.

As a sanity check - could you just take a picture of your SatNav?

Make sure there are no mistakes on which model etc.

If it's a Columbus any SD Card will do the job, so long as it has been formatted to FAT32 - which is just a matter of getting it connected to a PC, right-click>Format and making sure FAT32 is selected.

Are you able to put music on this very same card and can the SatNav see it?

A Columbus System should see that card. You will need to download the 25GB zipped file, then unzip it with 7zip and put it on a freshly formatted SD card and then put it in the car and the system should recognise it as a software update and then you can update via Navigation, Version Information, Update :)

I have attached a picture of the system . I can't even play music of a memory stick . I borrowed a memory stick from a mate with a 16 Skoda with music on it and my car said memory stick error.

When doing updates it's best of you only have the necessary update file(s) on it.

That way the system only sees what it needs.

That’s definitely a Columbus, advice above is accurate; make sure there is nothing else on the card. Are you using a Mac?

My first attempt was on a mac.  Didn't work so I used a ordinary pc still the same . I'm not much good with computers .

I have a mate with a mac he did the first download to sd card. Then I did the download my self with a dell pc . I'll try my mate with the mac , he's good with computers and show him yer suggestion.  Thanks a million for yer help .

Don’t use the Mac if you can get away with it. I get a higher success rate on Windows with this. Download straight from Skoda with you chassis number or from VW by selecting Golf and then Discover Pro. Download to the PC, unzip the file with 7zip (not winzip or the built in zip tool on windows 10), open the folder and copy the 3 folders (MIB1, MIB2 and the text file) over onto the SD card after you have deleted all data and formatted to FAT32. Then insert into the car, the radio should read the card then show a message with something like software update detected and then you can go from there.

This bit I do know about; the 3 programs are different, although they would all produce an output called, say, "Sacha.zip" the 3 archives would be different.

When you "Unzip" the file that you download, you should end up with two folders and a file:

Mib1 (folder) - 775 files, 320 folders, 23.8GB

Mib2 (folder) - 796 files, 510 folders, 4.33GB

metainfo2 (file) - 904 bytes

Copy all of this into the root (so not inside any additional folders) of the SD card formatted as FAT32.

Insert into either SD Card Slot.

Navigation>Version Information>Update from the Infotainment unit.
