Hi there. He did, the problem was a couple of wires were too close to the engine manifold and this was causing false signals been sent to the ecu. Hope this helps

Thanks for getting back to me. I found a car sparky who seems to have a good reputation and charges 40 an hour no vat. All other places my way are 75+vat per hour. Enough to make your eyes water.

There's got to be something going on so will get him in and post here after.

Hi Dcam, Hope your concern is resolved. Can you exactly mention where the wires are??? Me too got the exact complaint as yours.

Hi, it was an auto eletrician who found them bud. He said that he tied them back from touching the manifold. Does the light come on even when the engine is cold?

Yep it is there even when the engine is cold. And just for 1 sec it is showing "Engine Overheating Stop vehicle see owner manual". Don't know how often it is occurring...Thanks for the reply...

Defo an electrical fault bud. If you were in Glasgow I could recommend a top guy. I asked for recommendations and most garages recommended him. Anyway good luck

I got Engine overheating warning yesterday on shorter drive and the temperature needle climbed into red.

My car is 2.0 TDI 150 PSI 2014 model.

First time this happened on my car.

My car has fuel pump changed when it was relatively new and under warranty, but now is 11 years old. Nothing else was done on the car since new (just regular oil and filter changes at dealer).

Today morning when the engine was cold and car parked I checked what I can see:

  • oil level is normal

  • coolant is at min dash. Not sure how was it before and what is suppose to be normal. I dont see any coolant leaks (to my knowledge). I opened collant reservoar and liquid is clear inside.

I scanned with OBDeleven and these erros were logged during drive yesterday:

B10F000 (Function limitation due to compressor switch-off by

I can leave my car at the dealer whcih I am afraid is going to end up in huge bil (not sure what else can I do but I would like to potentially know more what I am possibly dealing with )

Clear as in colourless or clear as in not cloudy?

Coolant should not be colourless (like water) but the correct coloured coolant as specified by Skoda.

Clear pink , not murky / cloudy

Right here you have a nice long lived water pump. Time for a new one.

The pump was changed when car way under 5 years old.

If this is the problem, do you really change waterpump every 5 or so years? Then you have to change timing belt as well?

Correct the service interval is about 5 years or 140000 miles.

I had a diesel vrs MK3 and it's waterpump went at 6 years old with 75k miles on the clock.

Honestly if your overheating, it's the usual culprit.

Went today on shorter ride for test, collant stayed at 90 this time and didnt climb up.

Since what happened last week this probably means fuel pump is failling and will happen again (although not necesarily on every ride)?

You've got it.

I'd go for a 20 minute drive, 1 hour drive and it would be ok. Then seemingly random occasions it would overheat. Just don't want it happening at a super inconvenient time or place... Stay safe. Don't mess around with a faulty waterpump.
