Yeti recirculation flap motor not memorising basic settings (Climatronic)

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Following a spate of ocurrences when driving, as the outside temperature drops towards freezing, almost immediately all the glass mists up to the point where I have to stop the car, adn it simply will not demist. Guessing that it might be the recirculation flap stuck, I ripped out the glove box and indeed it is in the 'recirculate' position i.e takes air from inside the car. Having spent the rest of the afternoon trying unsuccessfully to get the servo motor off (one last screw toward the back that I can't get my fat ratchet onto) I go in the house and read on the internet how to put the flap motors into basic settings by pressing the a/c button and the face-level vent button. Fine, that works, and the flap motors go to basic settings, and I think I've fixed it. However, as soon as the recirculation button is pressed (or screenwashed, or reverse engaged) the recirculation flap opens (as it should) but then will not fully return home afterwards. That leaves the flap about half closed and the servo motor twitching all the time, as if it can't remember its basic setting. Then I remembered it's sometimes necessary to switch off the ignition after basic settings, so that the control module remembers the values. But that didn't work either. Can anyone assist with this, please?  Much appreciated.

Nick

It sounds to me more like the servo or flap itself rather than a module.

Thanks. Agreed. I think I'll try and get this old one off, and if I manage to do that, I'll order up a new one. If not, I'll have to get the dealer to do it for me. Unfortunately they are a 3-hour drive from us..!

Anyone know how to get the farthest screw out of the servo motor?

Nick

Try a Climatronic reset first to see if it frees up any stuck / sticking flaps...

Many thanks for that, althought I already did it several times - that's what I was meaning by 'basic settings'.

Is the Climatronic calibration required as routine or is it only when you've replaced the battery or something?

I've only ever done it after replacing the climate panel.

Thanks, good to know.

Did you ever get this sorted? I have exactly the same problem that you described, including the twitching as the servo tries to close.
