Windscreen Smear

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have wiper smear on my windscreen (Octavia II).  The glare from oncoming headlamps is terrible.  When I clean the outside of the screen with meths, the smear is gone, but returns once I use wash-wipe.  I drained the washer bottle and refilled it countless times with every conceivable detergent, with hot water, even boiling water.  I have changed the blades (twice).  Nothing works.  It seems my washer bottle is contaminated with something I can't get rid of .

Any suggestions, short of replacing the washer bottle?

Thanks,

Bill

I had trouble like this with a works van and used a hot water jet wash to eventually clear the bottle, as this worked great to get rid of 'mayonnaise' in a radiator many moons earlier, in a VX Viva (HB not the modern one).
