My steering warning light (orange not red) kept lighting up on my Skoda Octavia Scout 4x4 2008 cured the problem by clearing the muck out of the sensor connecting plug (really very dirty) several times but now it is staying on. Is there more than one sensor on the steering system? Actual steering is working just fine no problems other than the warning light. Other than replacing complete steering rack is there something else I can try?

Have you tried resetting the fault using a scan tool? 

It may be mandatory but other than that usually when the steering electronics meet a fault and after it is fixed, the controller can self-repair it by driving for a short of distance so related indications go off . 

If not the case then an autoscan posted here could help. 

Yes have reset several times lasts for a day or two at most especially if i go round a sharp bend

Not more experienced with this but am autoscan is required to show exactly what's wrong ..

Have found out what the problem is it is the steering wheel alignment out of place should be okay when steering wheel is realigned to 100% straight. Hope this helps anyone else who has same problem. Thanks everybody.
