Brake Pads

Featured Replies

Good morning

I was wondering if anybody could let me know what front and rear pads I need reg. AK58GZZ elegance?? Looked online and so many options. Would really be appreciated.

thanks

No idea. Go to a proper motor factors and they will supply suitable parts. If incorrect they will refund etc, much easier than shopping online.

Use them or lose them.

Check with your nearest VAG dealer and share part numbers/price with us.

I find that the stealers dont divulge part numbers.

Try going on to the Eurocarparts website where you can type in your reg and it will bring up all options for your car 👍🏻

Then get served by a monkey who gives you the wrong parts 😂

🤣 Yes if you’re unlucky but just check the part number matches what you ordered before you leave I find usually works 👍🏻

And all the options for every other variant  of your model, most of which aren't right for your specific car.

Seriously it's rubbish,  It's exactly why there are so many threads asking exactly this type of thing.

Must be just me then but I’ve never had any issue locating the right parts on there or other sites offering the same sort of thing

worse than rubbish, in my experience a 20% chance of getting the right oil filters, fuel filters, brake discs & pads, what pi55ed me off most was the repeated insistence on having a reg number or chassis nuber that i knew had already given the wrong parts and denial everytime that their system would allow the input of the  make, model, fuel, engine size etc, I dont tolerate lies well and remain firm, eventually they do input the data (as their screen is asking them!) and it always results in the correct parts, with filters etc after trying 5 times I would keep the box of the old type as a reference.

What really turned me away from the robbers is that for over the contre sales they would try to rush me for 40% more for the exact same part bought from them on E-bay with free delivery, thankfully now I use TPS they are just an unpleasant memory.

The OP needs to find the relevant PR code from the vehiicle handbook or the sticker in the boot to get the correct part numbers.

It appears to have improved very slightly since last time I looked.  Our Fabia has 239mm front discs and drums on the back. When I put in the reg to ECP website and ask for brake discs it now just offers me 239mm and 256mm fronts, and 232mm rear discs. I think it used to offer 288mm front discs too last time I tried.  1 out 3 ain't quite so bad as 1 out of 4...

Unfortunately the front brake PR code is rarely present on that.

Guys,

I did a web chat with GSF and have told me the following front and rear pads are for my car

cheap brake parts dont last. They are a false economy.  Go to a proper local shop, they supply the garages with decent parts for not much more.

I mean which brand??

any make that people have heard of

a few examples - pagid, mintex, brembo, textar, delco (are they still going ?) , genuine manufacturer brand ie VW, skoda, vauxhall etc (depending on the car). The vehicle manufacturer doesn't make brake pads or any of the small components, they are bought in. Look closely at the parts and you may be able to see who made the originals.

avoid - chinese, euro crap parts cheapies, gsf cheap option, etc. Halfrauds - nonono.

I'm told that brembos really do make a difference to "feel", though Ive not tried myself.

Ok thank you

Ive used pagids on my old mk1 octy, swmbo citigo, and my old insignia SE160 - it had mintex on when i bought it.

My current mk2 was seviced before i bought it by the dealer - mintex.

Pagid are a much better pad imo...

Never had any issues and good wearing.
