That's a "feature" of the newer BCM software in later 2019 models which cannot be changed by coding or adaptation.

Applies to my March 2019 Superb as well having to put into Eco every time I start the engine.

My last Octavia Vrs245 was also a manual and Skoda claimed it could do 51mpg on the motorway but best I managed on a long run was 48mpg (526 miles on one tank- 50 litre tank), however a DSG 7 speed Vrs245 I tried managed 50mpg just on my commute so about 2mpg better due to the extra gear and lower cruising revs. My Superb Skoda claim can do 47mpg on the motorway and managed a 45.9mpg recently (in Winter) so hopefully I can get nearer to 47 mpg in the summer.

45.9mpg. Clearly not using all those horses properly 🤣

Well it does have twice the power of an Octavia Vrs diesel and much better traction pulling away.

TBH, it's easier to just put more fuel in when needed.

I started off trying to keep the economy up, but now just accept it drinks what it drinks.

I think I got about 26mpg on the way to work this morning 😂

I actually find the fact that it tells you slightly depressing and distracting.  My other car doesn't tell me and I stopped monitoring it years ago.  I just accepted it was somewhere between 20 and 30.  The skoda tells me and I was finding that somehow I'd be unhappy about getting say 30mpg when I thought I should get 36mpg on a 10 mile journey.   The reality is it used 30 pence more fuel.  Does that actually make any difference to my life?  No.

Still 45mpg is impressive for a 300plus bhp engine. My Focus RS never got above 20mpgs

TBH that was when it was standard on the way down to Essex to get the remap when it only had 283bhp. But still good for 1,627kg car with as much interior space as a Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series.

Thanks Dave. My dealer invited me to have the car in  for them to fix it under warranty, so it seems it would be a waste of time.

I also have an Samsung Galaxy A40 Android 9 phone that will not connect as my previous Moto 5G+ (also Android 9) would, allowing the running of Google Maps or Waze on the car screen. Do you know about that as well?
