Clutch Comes on when I switch on engine

Hi All-

 

Need help today when I switched on car would not start or turnover engine- Should I press clutch pedal to floor every time I need to stat Car-   pressed clutch to floor and car started any idea why this light came on and is there an answer to solve this problem- when car started no problems but I would like to solve this problem if it happens in the future.

 

Any help advice appreciated as I do not need this snag in future.

Modern cars have a safety interlock, need to depress clutch to start

 

Its to stop it moving and hitting someone if you (or some troublesome child in the car) tries  to start it having parked it in gear.

US cars have had this feature for years

Thank you for your prompt  reply just bought this Skoda Octavia 2011 & this feature was not on my older Skoda Octavia but I now realize that every time I start car I will need to depress clutch to start .
