MKIII 280 Remap questions

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

New here so go easy on me, about to pickup the new Superb MKIII 280ps 4x4 as an upgrade from the Fabia MKIII and was wondering about those that have remapped their MKIIIs, where did you go for it and what kind of performance imporvements did you get over stock?

I dont want to be replacing anything as yet, maybe down the line get a Turbo Muffler delete and an intercooler replacement but wont be doing anything major to this wonderful car.

Ive seen some places offer up from 280 to 350 but want some reputable recommendations if possible.

My old Fabia loved its remap but the place i used seemed a little sketch and didnt rolling road it at all.

Would love some input and/or guidance on what you guys have done

Many thanks

As you are already in Kent not far for you to go to AmD in Grays, Essex where my Superb 272 has just been stage 1 mapped. They give you a laminated before and after graph using their rolling road so you can see where the gains are made. Judging by my results you should expect around 370bhp and the difference is very impressive. Mine ended up with 359.6bhp and 514nm of torque and Ben is the contact there and the ECU wizard. They charge £500 with 10% deposit and balance can be paid interest free over 12 months.

I am in Kent yea, Essex is certainly doable without going too far out of the way

500 is absolutely reasonable, I will give them a shot.

Any downsides youve noticed at all?

None still getting between 38-40mpg and on course for 600 miles on my 4th tank since buying the car at the end of December.

In all honesty, as long as I get around 400-500 miles per tank, im golden.

MPG isnt a huge focus for me, its more the inconvenience of having to fill up mid week in the Fabia due to its 300-400 mile refuel.

I do roughly 80-100 miles a day and just need to not be filling up all the damn time haha.

With regards to the remap, im assuming youve only done the Stage 1?

Any benefits to the Stage 2 that would entice you into it? Ive been looking at a new Intercooler and Turbo muffler delete, possibly the airflow kit but if theres not much point to that, I'll probably not bother.

Unless of course it changes the noise of the car, thing sounds gorgeous as stock so im well excited to say the least

Not worth going stage 2 IMHO because you only gain another 40-45bhp (upto 415bhp) because even stage 1 is mental acceleration. Guy in Italy has recorded 0-50mph in 3.12 seconds and 0-100mph in 10.46 seconds. I was hoping for 500 miles per tank or 34mpg yet have averaged 38.5mpg over 1,700 miles so far. My last car a stage 2 Octavia Vrs245 was producing 336bhp  yet averaged 40.3mpg over 29,000 miles so AmD work doesn't have an adverse effect on economy. However the small 50 litre tank in the Octavia leads to a 440 mile range and filling up every 10 days yet the Superb only needs filling 2 a month so less time wasted at the garage.

My commute involves 54 miles a day of which 34 is motorway. Stage 2 could cost as much as £2,000 so not cost effective for the extra horsepower gained.

Mr VRS245 did it add much to your insurance ?

😞 I’ll ignore that. Please reply again saying it went up a daft amount ...

You must be many years younger than me.

I think we are around the same vintage. .... what I meant is I wanted a high figure to put me off doing it  !

You won't regret it trust me I have much experience in this field of boost and pleasure sensations. There is never enough power when the itch starts to take hold.

Took a drive from the Lakes back through the A65/A660 today, some ace roundabouts to pull away from (when they're not flooded), couldn't help but wonder how the extra punch would feel from a remap when I got back home! When you remap on stage 1, did it change any of your emissions/road tax?

My 280 was remapped last week by CLP automotive in Sheffield.

Theres a picture of my car on their website page with the power graph.

I paid 760quid for their APR remapping service, and now everytime I want a remap, I only pay 120 quid.

It's been money well spent as far as i'm concerned. I haven't noticed any difference in fuel saving, but I don't care because the extra g force is just great.

I'm hoping to do the next stage soon, including the dsg remap. I want the downpipe, intercooler, plugs, turbo muffler delete, and an oversized air filter for more noise.

Oh, and a centre resonator delete too. The upgraded turbo will have to wait till the mrs gets over this shock - when I find the balls to tell her!

Centre Resonator Delete??

I love the noise of the 272 but just mustering up the courage to want to do anything to it when i get it.

Its more about off the line acceleration more than anything for me.

Noise just has to be really nice in sport mode and then die back down when cruising. Still want the car to maintain its class after all and not just be a noise machin.

Upgraded turbo is about 2.8k if im not mistaken for a Revo one. which one are you going for out of interest?

Ive been clubbing together a parts lists and up to about 4.7k currently with the Turbo install. about 2k without.

Would you be installing this yourself or taking it back to CLP?

I will need to dig out the graph. Could you link me as im having a shoddy time finding my way around atm. Thought id just jump right in at the deep end

I've only done 2 fast starts from stand still, and I don't like the front end lift and squabbling for grip, so I wont bother again.

I've been told by the mapper not to do it anyway, until i'm mapped for 99 fuel.

As for the parts, i'm still gathering that info :)

I'll try and find a link that doesn't direct to MY facebook login page

Just seen these now, took me a little while to work out the graphs at first glance, but that's a great gain by the looks of it! Cracking pic of it on the Dyno too, that grey really pops with the LED rear lights

Interesting comparisons to be made with an S3 further down their page:

If you read the bumf on the stage 2 remap, APR offer a pop and crackle option to it for free (in sport mode), and that certainly appeals to me.

Thanks so much for this.

If that crackle is Sports mode only. Hot damn im in haha
