Left dipped headlight warning

Featured Replies

Hello,

i have a Superb Sportline 68 plate. Recently I’ve been getting “Please check left dipped bean headlight” warnings along with “Error cornering light (AFS)” warning messages. See attached photos below. When I check, sure enough the left dipped light does not work. However the next time I start my car either the next day or some time after, the warning messages do not appear and the left dipped light works.

I have booked it in at the dealership for investigation, but I’m not expecting them to find anything.

Has anyone else experienced this gremlin?? If so how did you resolve it? It is getting quite annoying.

Any advice would be welcome.

Many thanks,

Sanjay

I get the same message every now and again (only for the right headlight) and like you it always sorts itself when next started.

Never have got to the bottom of it.

The dealer will probably download the fault codes Log with VCDS.  It may help find the true origin... 😉

Hi Coolc: I seem to to be getting this message more often. Sometimes it lasts longer than a day.

Hi Bap33: The car for serviced last week and I did mention this to them and they say they’ll look into it. When I picked up the car they found no fault in the log.

I've had this kind of issue on previous cars and it always seemed to be when the bulb was nearing it's end, but not sure if that's likely depending on what lights you have. Although I'm not sure if you mean you're just having a problem with the cornering light "mechanism" (whatever that involves).

Had same problem 3 months ago, warning light came on, on way to work, when I used the car 3 hours later, problem had corrected. The dealer phoned me later to say warning had flagged up to them by the car, booked in, light fault checked and found, left head light unit ordered and replaced under warranty. fault occurred again whilst waiting for new unit to arrive.

Hi Reason159,

No call from the dealer. Wonder how they knew?? Do you know? As I might give it a go.

Skoda connect notified dealer if fault issue, dealer still had to investigate fault, then replaced under warranty.
