Karoq Columbus Nav Problem

Featured Replies

I am driven to distraction by the Columbus Navigation System in my wife's 2018 Karoq. Having set navigation destination into car on nearly every journey the map stops to move, and the car icon therefore moves off the map as we drive.

This is related to a grey image on the right of the screen which looks like a plan view of the vehicle with dashes front, rear and both sides. Tapping this it disappears and the vehicle icon reappears in the centre of the map. Later on the journey the dreaded grey image appears and the map stops again.

Why does this happen? How can I stop it and keep the vehicle cursor centre screen for the whole journey please?

This is driving me nuts and I can find nothing anywhere suggesting how to fix.

That usually happens if you have physically touched the screen.

Thanks for the instant answer!

Just been out to test and you are quite correct. The touch screen and the underlying system are my problem

What I often do whilst driving is zoom in and out of the map.

On all the other many cars I have had this has not been an issue, the navigation maps continue to move. Quite why the VAG system works like it does is lost on me.

The touch screen and lack of intuitive operation leave me unimpressed.

You can set the zoom to auto so it zooms in when you approach a point where something significant happens. If you need more detail at a junction, use the split screen function and it shows manoeuvres in greater detail,

Thanks for the suggestions John. Neither of those options appeals to me. I like to have a large map view.

Although I am left handed I find the touch screen awkward especially the pinching and stretching movements to work the map zoom.  I yearn for the traditional rotary knob which, on most of my other cars, permits zooming in and out without freezing the map. What we have been given seems far too complicated, half baked, and a safety distraction.
