Issues with auto restart after a stall

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any issues after the car stalls. The message appears to say start the car manually but it begins to restart the car automatically.

So what happens is you actually turn the car off. Particularly annoying when on a roundabout or half entering a junction.

Any advice or how to turn off the auto restart welcome.

Thanks in advance

I’ve done this several times over the years and I have just manually restarted the car. My Octavia has has also come up with “stop/start error”, but have found that turning off the car at end of journey and restarting, the error clears.

Obviously you can turn off the stop/start function at the beginning of your journey but surely that defeats the object of reducing emissions?

Oh and welcome to Briskoda!

Would turning off the start/stop turn off the automatic restart after a stall.

It's the wife that complaining, she's concerned she will have the kids in the car and the car takes just that bit longer to restart when sitting in the middle of a junction.

I wouldnt worry about the stop/start as that is working fine. The key issue is what is happening for the engine to stall in the first place. Too little revs too much clutch, wrong gear selection? There is an anti-stall feature built into the software which should activate if you de clutch quick enough.

I'd think so, quite handy finding that the car engine restarts after "you" have messed!

No, it will remain active always, despite start/stop status, but it doesn't prevent you to start manually if you can do it faster.

From my experience it works fine, at least as quick as you can do it manually - but I assume in the middle of the junction if you choke the engine, I suppose it looks worst then it actually is.
